The Midas Maidens
As we edge toward the end of this year I can’t help but reflect on the things I am grateful for. I have met some amazing women that I have come to consider my good friends. We have created a safe space for one another and though we are very different individuals, we all come together to create art that we all believe in. I discussed this concept with the photographer, Ashley Wolve, when she approached me about executing a look with gold leaf. We talked about wanting to express feminine power, and how in our current political climate, the word feminism has negative connotations. It’s confusing how women can claim to support one another but still put boundaries around what feminism means, or what you can do with your body to be a considered a respectable woman. This set is meant to highlight the natural beauty of the female figure and inspire women to embrace the differences that make us, us. To recognize that we all have different boundaries, none of them wrong- but all of our personal boundaries must be dignified with a mutual respect.
Us ladies are currently all working together to create a safe space for women who feel the same way, so stay tuned for updates on our first event (December 18th).
